Privacy Policy

Last updated 24 October 2026

CaptureMann is a screen recorder and screenshot app for macOS, made by CraftMann. It works on your own computer, and your captures stay there unless you decide to send them somewhere. This policy explains what that means in detail.

The short version

  • No account is needed, and CraftMann does not receive your screenshots, recordings, audio or webcam video.
  • Captures are saved to a folder on your Mac. They leave your Mac only when you upload or publish them yourself.
  • Speech-to-text runs on your Mac with local models, so your audio is not sent to a transcription service.
  • The app is open source, so you can read the code and check these statements.

Who we are

CaptureMann is developed by CraftMann, an independent software studio (craftmann.app). In this policy, “CraftMann”, “we” and “us” mean the people who make CaptureMann, and “the app” means the CaptureMann application for macOS.

What stays on your Mac

CaptureMann creates and stores the following on your computer, in the folders you choose:

  • Screenshots and screen recordings, including any system or microphone audio and webcam video you chose to include.
  • Transcripts and captions generated from your recordings.
  • Your library, editing projects and app settings.

We do not have access to any of this. Deleting a file from your library or your folders removes it from your Mac; uninstalling the app removes the app itself, and the files you saved stay where you put them until you delete them.

macOS permissions

macOS asks you to approve each of these before CaptureMann can use it. The app uses a permission only for the feature it is needed for, and only while you capture or record.

  • Screen Recording (required): lets the app see your screen to take screenshots and record. System audio is recorded under this same permission.
  • Microphone (optional): records your voice when you turn the microphone on.
  • Camera (optional): shows your webcam in the bubble and records it as its own track.
  • Input Monitoring (optional): lets recordings note mouse clicks and scroll direction. Without it, only the cursor position is recorded.

You can review or withdraw any permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security. The app’s Settings screen also shows which permissions are granted.

Transcripts and AI models

Transcripts and captions are produced by speech models that run on your Mac. Your audio is not uploaded for transcription. The app may download a model file to your Mac when you choose to install one; downloading a model does not send your recordings anywhere.

Things you choose to send

CaptureMann can send a capture to a service only when you connect that service and ask the app to upload or publish. These services are:

  • Cloud drives: Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox.
  • Publishing platforms: YouTube, TikTok and Facebook.

When you do this, the file, its title and description, and the other details you enter go from your Mac directly to that provider. CraftMann is not in between and does not see or keep a copy. Once a provider has the data, its own privacy policy and terms apply, so please read them. You can disconnect an account in the app, and revoke the app’s access from your account settings at the provider.

To sign in, the app uses the provider’s own authorization flow. The access tokens it receives are stored on your Mac and used only to carry out the uploads and publishes you request. They are never sent to CraftMann.

AI agents, MCP and the command line

CaptureMann includes an MCP server and a command-line tool so that AI agents and scripts you run can use the app. They run on your computer and talk to the app locally. The app does not give agents your account tokens or API keys.

If you connect an AI agent or an AI service of your choice, anything the agent reads from CaptureMann (for example a screenshot or a transcript) is handled by that agent and its provider under their terms and privacy policy. That is outside CaptureMann’s control, so connect only agents you trust. Recording, publishing and deleting always ask for your confirmation on screen, and you can set each agent to allowed, read-only or blocked in Settings.

Information we collect

The app does not collect personal information, does not require an account, and does not include advertising or third-party tracking. We do not sell or share your data, because we do not have it.

Because CaptureMann is downloaded from GitHub, GitHub may record download statistics and technical data under its own privacy policy.

This website

craftmann.app is a static website. It sets no tracking cookies and has no advertising. Your browser may store a small setting on your device, for example to remember that you dismissed the language suggestion. Our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services (AWS Amplify), may keep standard server logs such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver and secure the site.

Links to GitHub and other services take you to sites with their own privacy policies.

Children

CaptureMann is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your choices

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf. For anything stored by a provider you connected, use that provider’s tools.

  • Decide where captures are saved, and delete them whenever you like.
  • Choose whether to connect any cloud drive or publishing platform, and disconnect it at any time.
  • Allow, restrict or block each AI agent in Settings.
  • Withdraw macOS permissions in System Settings.

Changes to this policy

If CaptureMann’s data practices change, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect. Earlier versions are available in the website’s repository history on GitHub.
